Capital One + BGC

Black Girls CODE is one of a number of organizations Capital One supports to provide coding and entrepreneurship skills to more undeserved and underrepresented youths across the country. In 2016, Capital One is sponsoring Black Girls CODE Chicago chapter.

Girls 7 -17 are invited to an introduction to game design and development. Students will think analytically, design, play and code their own games.

Volunteer Roles

Frequently Asked Questions


At every event, you can choose a specific role and full or half-day time slots. Sign-up now by clicking the links above.

Tech Instructor: Lead the your class of bright-eyed Tech Divas through the curriculum. Coding experience required. Teaching experience a plus.

Tech Assistant: Work one-on-one with the girls and guide them through the programming process. Coding experience required.

Classroom Assistant: Help the instructor keep order in the classroom. Experience with youth a plus.

Non-Tech Volunteer: Assist with general tasks like set-up, registration, lunch, check-out, clean-up, and other misc. tasks that help the workshop run smoothly. Can-do attitude and smile a plus :)

Photographer Volunteer: Capture the excitement of the day on film. Camera required.

Social Media Volunteer: Build excitement on social media leading up to and during the event through tweets and Facebook posts. Smart phone or tablet required.
Who can attend a Black Girls CODE workshop?
Our workshops are open to all girls who are interested.

How do I register a girl?
Black Girls Code is not a membership-based organization. Register a girl by signing her up through our Eventbrite pages (links above.)

Are there scholarships available?
For all Black Girls CODE workshops, we offer a limited number of financial-need based scholarships on a first-come, first-serve basis. You can apply for all scholarships here. We look forward to supporting you!
